YORKSHIRE MOORS AND DALES

We have pleasure in submitting details of our 5 night holiday to Yorkshire in September 2010.

Our holiday begins on Sunday 12th September 2010 and following a coffee stop and lunch stops on route we will arrive at our hotel for the next five nights The Bridge Hotel, Wetherby. This is an independently owned hotel and is renowned throughout the area for first class levels of 'Yorkshire Hospitality' and comfort. All bedrooms are ensuite and are well equipped for your requirements. The delightful restaurant and public areas are sure to please and with first class facilities in an unrivalled location in the heart of Yorkshire we are sure that The Bridge will make the perfect base as we tour and enjoy this delightful area.

During our stay we will visit the historic market town of Pickering the official gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. From here, we will board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and travel through beautiful countryside by steam train to Goathland. Goathland is also known as Aidensfield in YTV's Heartbeat - here an opportunity to visit the charming village or enjoy cup of tea in the 1922 style tea room on the station. We will drive back through the glorious scenery of the North York Moors stopping for afternoon tea on route.

Through wonderful scenery again we will make our way to the charming town of Whitby situated on the Yorkshire coast. Whitby's skyline is dominated by the ruins of St Hilda's Abbey high on Whitby's East Cliff. The views from here are spectacular looking along the coast to Ravenscar and Scarborough. There will be plenty of time to explore the little alleyways and enjoy the quayside and colourful harbour of this little town by the sea.

We will also be visiting Castle Howard with its painted and gilded dome which reaches 80 ft. into the Yorkshire sky. Castle Howard houses magnificent collections of antique furniture, porcelain, fine paintings etc which have been gathered by successive generations of the Howard Family. This is truly a superb property which sits in 1,000 acres of gardens with delightful walks revealing hidden glades and breathtaking views, terrace walks, lakeside paths and memorable sights including the atlas fountain and the temple of the four winds.

The historic town of Harrogate with fabulous shopping and graceful architecture will be our stopping place before we make our way through the Yorkshire Dales to Grassington on the river wharfe at the foothills of this open countryside. Centred around its bustling cobbled square is a selection of family owned shops offering quality foods, clothing, gifts, arts and crafts all alongside cosy cafes and restaurants. Plenty of time here before making our way over to Pately Bridge on the river nidderdale for afternoon tea. There would be an alternative to the Dales on this day for those who wish as on leaving Harrogate we would make the short journey to RHS Garden Harlow Carr (entrance fee not included) This remarkable garden is an absolute delight and so the decision of destination might be a difficult one !!

With so much to see and do our time here will pass so oh quickly and so unfortunately on Friday 17th September we must make our way back home stopping as usual to partake of refreshments and enjoy the last day of our holiday

The cost of this five night holiday will be £515.00 which includes coach travel, dinner, bed & breakfast and all excursions and entrance fees (Harlow Carr not included) for the duration of the holiday. There is a total single supplement of £25.00 per person and if you would like to reserve a place we would be grateful if you would complete the enclosed slip on the booking form (retaining the terms and conditions) and return this with your deposit of £25.00 per person.
